Shut Up Baldrick, You'd Laugh at a Shakespeare Comedy.

The colour of these shorts reminds me of when Edmund Blackadder remarked to Percy, "so you think there's a big market for jewellery that looks like snot, then?"

I re-fashioned these from a rather hideous pair of snot-coloured 3/4 pants, into a not-quite so hideous, extremely comfortable pair of shorts.
They look like something my Dad would have worn with knee socks in 1978.

I love the intensely high-waisted look of them.
They look so out of place with all the other gear I'm wearing, yet it all feels so right to me.
They're a bit crumpled as I'd spent the whole day in them, out and about, but I'm happy with my super-pants.

Things that make you go boi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oing!
I'm in a crafty mood - think I'll make some more headbands this weekend.

My 1970s embroidered bag, Madeira, has forgiven me since being mended after I overloaded her with way too much of my baggage.
Poor delicate darling has moods too you know.

You're thinking "Oh god, can't she keep her pants on for just one day?  Just one!"
Well duh, course not!

I've discovered that swimsuits make the best hot summer day wear and you're ready to get wet should you happen by a sprinkler, town hall fountain, summer downpour, puddles or any body of water.
Plus you can change clothes in a jiffy if you stumble across an exciting op-shop find and absolutely must try it on right there and then.

I'm sure this fabulous shiny skirt was once part of a stage show.
My fave oppy, Aid for the Blind, seems to absorb these gems by the truckload.

It's rather on the large side, but I'm happy because it means I'll be sewing.
I'm really in the mood!

The gorgeous, sassy Bella over at The Citizen Rosebud put me under the spotlight this month - you can read her interview with me here, or you could just look at the pictures if you don't feel like moving your eyes too much:).
Thank you Bella, it was an honour to answer your wonderful questions - arse-squeeze coming your way love!!

Some Turban-ulance Expected

There's something rather fabulous about turbans isn't there?
I don't know, they make me want to cover my body in faraway galaxies and leather.
And beads.  And stuff.

I was a turban virgin prior to my brave outing in torrential rain.
I feel a turban collection coming on.
The popping of the turban cherry is thanks to Number One Son's beautiful girlfriend, Miss Danni-Long-Legs, who sent The Stylist and I a jumbo package of thrifted treasures from the Melbourne op-shops.
Oh Melbourne, how I adore thee!
If I lived there, I would be chasing down the lovely violin-toting Miss Claire, Erica Louise and the abso-frickin hilarious, Tralala, who doesn't have a blog and really should because I just think she needs one.

I have been very naughty and neglectful of my double-bagging habits lately, resulting in bag strain of the strap-snapping variety.
Never fear, the highly offended bag has been mended lovingly with a stitch or two, a kiss and the promise to return to double-bagging.
Oh woe is modern life with it's ridiculous paraphernalia.

Do not overload delicate old bags with too much baggage.
That includes old bags like me.

I have fixed my much-loved Madeira bag and she is happy once again.

Close-up with Helga's fabulous brooch added to the turban - I'm finding new ways to wear old brooches.
I have to justify buying so many.

Uh-oh, there's that look again!
Oh dear, yes, it's the "I-think-I need-to-drop-my-pants" stare.

It's too late, they're on their way down south.

Well, I shall have to go pant-less for the rest of the day - so much more scope for my carnie routines.
Fact or fiction?  The Phoenix just told me visitors are not allowed to fart in the Louvre.  Is this true?  I need to know.
Have an awesome Monday you glorious beauties!!

On Day Release

Yes, the phrase "day release patient with a four-hour curfew" does spring to mind here.
Oh the sheer, simple joy of wearing a huge-arse pink rose headband and gumboots (wellies to you Brits).

But all good things come to an end ... before the next good thing turns up.
It's getting dark and I should be back in my cell before Nurse Ratchett sets the wardies and dogs on me.
Should I let them drag me back, or escape and heed the lure of more sartorial freedom?

Tomorrow I'll be 44.
Getting older + mad outfits = LIBERAZIONE!!!!!

I hear the dogs baying.
They're on the scent!

Quiet or they'll hear us!

No, I'm leggin' it.
Stuff this four-hour curfew.
Onwards to the next mad-woman outfit.  Hooray to freedom!!
No to beige capri pants and boat shoes!
Hooray for Johnny Nice Painter!

What a Bunch of Poseurs!

Holy crap!
What happened to my hair?
Daily washing after salt water or chlorine swims, that's what.
My hair hates being washed, even with super gunky conditioner - the dirtier the hair, the happier we both are.

My favourite cafe is cropping up quite a bit lately, but it's such a lovely peaceful spot, the coffee is awesome and I always find someone fascinating to yak away with for an hour, even if it's me;).

The Stylist on close-up duties today.

Number Three Son goes incognito as Mr X sipping a caramel milkshake.

 Mentos necklace = genius!

More simplicity today, but I surprised myself by managing super comfort in 70s stretch poly ... unheard of in a Brisbane summer.
The heatwave has abated for now:).
1970s jumpsuit - thrifted ($3)
VW Melissa 3-Straps - courtesy of Suzanne at the Melissa VIP sale ($20)
Red rose headband - homemade
Floral granny bag ($2) and crochet bag (50 cents) - thrifted
Earrings - craft shop

Time for some yoga warm-ups before the kids go for a swim.

At left, the Suspicious-Scuttling-Soft-Shell-Crab-Pose; at right, the Pose-Pose.

On the left, the Squashed-In-An-Elevator-Pose and right, the Comfy-Armchair-Pose.

 The Nose-Pose.

The Stylist caught me rifling through the 20-cent basket on today's op-shop trawl.

My nails are fashioned in a new style called the School Holiday Manicure.
It's very now.  The nails and cuticles deteriorate rapidly over an eight-week period.
I'm sure it's a huge trend for Aussie mums.
Do you like the Lego dashboard ring I bought from a craft shop today?

I made this wee messenger bag for Number Three Son about five years ago and it still goes everywhere with him.
It's made from vintage barkcloth, denim and paisley brushed cotton and is covered in badges he has collected over the years - of course, quite a few are missing in action.

Everyone needs a pink rubber watch don't they?
Well I thought so when I found this one in the dollar shop today.
Score!!
I've been lucky to snaffle the laptop at all this week - it's doing the family rounds, it's been having a purge and generally in use constantly - except by me!
I plan on hiding in the garage for three hours so I can have a lovely catch-up with you all - wish me luck!
