Get A Different Disease

I nearly caused an accident today.
Well, maybe I didn't.  Maybe the driver was blinded by a reflection.
Yep, it was a near thing at the roundabout next to the bus stop this morning.
Actually it happened about four times.
Luckily the bus arrived, coz it could have been nasty.

Men's vintage top hat - from a fabulous, yet stupidly-expensive vintage shop in Melbourne, now closed.
Frida necklace - made and gifted by dearest heart Tamera
Custom made "FREEKY" necklace and slave bracelet - Phussy
Leggings - Black Milk
1930s-formerly-underwear-now-top - DIY
1950s blue beads, watch - Etsy
Bag, pink ring - op shops

The near-carnage continued for several hours until I got home.
Probably the best place to be eh?
I think I'll stay in tomorrow and get something done with this pattern.
I've cut out the pieces for the top in View 4 and yes, I will be using all the fabrics.
It will be a Franken-Top!
Careful how you go, there are freeks everywhere.

At Least You Won't Have Time to Be Bored

Well commuters had some free entertainment as the traffic snarled past this afternoon.
The Stylist snapped off our first outdoor pics at the new house and there was much slack-jawed staring and shaking of heads.
I was pretty impressed with our neighbour who's a paramedic and seen it all.
He just smiled and said "party time?"
Actually he's bang on there.
Today I'm celebrating being alive after carting a 15kg sack of potting mix home about 2km.
Then I did it again (sans sack) at a much brisker pace to pick up the lassie from school.
Funny though, we had more energy after our hot, humid walk home than we used to when we drove.
She did star jumps, I may have done three.

The scales tell me I've lost five kilos.
So do my leggings.
Hopefully I'll be able to wear them again this winter.
I rapidly gained weight when I was prescribed lithium late last year, but aside from that, the drugs knocked me for six.
Couldn't drive, finish a sentence, remember words, stay awake, hold any kind of conversation.
My brain had a "holiday" that's for sure.
It's nice to be a bit more switched on and active again.

Where Is My Art?

Indeed, where is it?
I wonder if I lost my art somewhere.
My personal best.  My voice.  My music.
I was reading about artist India Salvor Menuez who said that most of the women in her creative life dress in costume.
I have always loved to dress in direct response my impulses, the directions of my mind.
Always in costume.
However, for the past six weeks, out of necessity, I stripped my life of excessive decoration.
But I suppose even my "basics" were still rather unusual for the tasks I was involved in: visiting my husband during his difficult 12-day hospital stay; sifting, ruthlessly turfing and packing up our large house of five years on my own; moving house while trying to keep husband calm and comfortable during the move.
We've been in our lovely new home for three weeks now and only yesterday I finally got storage sorted for my clothes.
Bags, hats and jewellery are another matter altogether, but I'm getting there.
I've lived without my pared-down but still enormous collection of bangles and necklaces, but content to look at them on display, admiring their colours and shapes.
I've been happy wearing brightly-coloured cottons, creepers, red lipstick and using the same bag everyday.
But by doing so, I can see how so many women easily fall into the trap of wearing the same colours and style day in, day out.
Convenience.  Slowly becoming invisible.
Wondering why they aren't feeling joyful anymore.
So today, I begin again.
To search for my art.
My music.

Maybe a Trip to the Outback Will Help With This Little Phase I'm Going Through

It must have been about 17 years ago I watched a certain movie with a pair of wowsers (party poopers) who were shocked and stunned at what they saw.
What a shame for them.
This week I watched that same movie three times in a row and now I simply cannot get enough crazy-shiny in my life!

To whom do I owe the honour of injecting a super-strength shot of fab into my week?

 Miss Felicia Jollygoodfellow,

 Miss Mitzi Del Bra,

aaaaaaand, Miss Bernadette Bassenger.

I cannot compare myself to those wonderous wenches in the frock and costume stakes, so maybe I could be their wig-brusher, glitterfier and sequin-polisher?

Oooooooh and in other fantastical news, Spy Girl has been super busy with her sketch pad this week, I love this art work!  Thank you so much Anne!.

"Check us girls, aren't we faaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous?"
