Hide the Lube!

I didn't think of it until The Stylist and I arrived at the meeting point for our date with Will and Kate yesterday afternoon.
I should have made the Duchess a rose headband fit for a future queen!
I'm sure she would have popped it on immediately and finished her pit stop Brisbane visit in real proper style like.
My wee lassie and I were the only ones in our family up for a long, hot wait to grab a glimpse of the royal heads.
It seems there's nothing like a celeb-royal visit to release our local loonies and precious bogans (white trash) onto the streets for wonderful slinging matches over barricade space and anything closely resembling a legalised scrum.
It's an experience neither of us will forget.

 Killing time on the train.

We traveled to Southbank and found an excellent shady spot with a view of the Wheel of Brisbane, suitable for a very long wait.

I found a good spot for The Stylist and she waited patiently, slathered with 50+ sunblock - Mama's orders.

We got a good, close look at Kate and she even shook The Stylist's hand, which naturally, will not be washed for a couple of weeks.
Kate is very beautiful in real life.
As for her old man Will, he was too far away, but I expect it was for the best as the natives were revolting.

After all the fuss died down, we had a swim at the artificial beach, I finally had my first cuppa and bite to eat and we enjoyed a stroll through the night markets.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my last post, luckily Kate read it and told me she and Will would be delighted to pop over for a BBQ and bring themselves a couple of cardboard casks of plonk.
I'd better get tidying up pronto, my bedside table is a disgrace!

All Work and No Play ...

Gosh it's been a while since we've seen any blogger malarky business going on here.
Exactly why has Kitty taken to sequin-licking?
Of course, there's a story behind every picture.

Earlier yesterday, I was demurely making bunting for the back deck in preparation for our housewarming party.

With preparations well underway, The Stylist successfully dodged the harried activities by snapping off a ton of her wonderful, signature arty pics.

So much weirdness going on and as our friend Paul, who was visiting us from Hong Kong said, "there's nothing normal about this house".
It was my first time entertaining a medium-sized crowd in five years and it was moments like these that kept me laughing.

Meanwhile, #2 Son slumbered deeply at 5pm.

 "It's time ladies and gents."

Juli and Kitty.  Woof!

Mental much?

This afternoon we waved off Paul, who flew on to Sydney to holiday with his family, The Stylist dyed my hair and we looked very, very tired.
So I'd better link up to Sacramento's "Flowers" theme then hadn't I?

Mary Shelley Likes Pickled Garlic

I swear if these new anti-mental meds don't kick in soon, my brain will turn into cushion stuffing.
But I must say I do like what they're doing for my creativity.
Perched upon my head is my latest lovely, made from marvellous denim-like, faded blue roses.
I'm in two minds about putting her in the Sassy Vamps shop as the blooms are rare and I really like them.
I've christened her: Mary Shelley Likes Pickled Garlic.
Don't ask.  I simply do not know the answer.

The Stylist took these pics moments after Victor, our 35-year-old Volvo, was towed home.
He needs a new fuel pump.
So do I.
The stunning backdrop is the garage of the new house being built next door.
Oh joy, the sounds of grinding metal, tinny radios, nine-hour concrete mixer marathons, shouting and comedic burping and farting intervals.
Six days a week.

They've all gone home so now we play!
Except I'm too buggered.

The other side of the house is untainted by construction and gives me some moments of peace.
A place where I can frolic with Lily the cat, wearing a 1930s nightie-as-frock.

As I mentioned, I'm getting used to new medication and my doctor has already switched things around, after I quickly gained several kilos faster than you can say "Fill a Bag of 40s Frocks for a Fiver."
Although I'm feeling very ill and bloated here, I couldn't help admiring my new arse - hehe!!
Changing meds means changing brains and much befuddlement ... the house is a disgrace and I can barely string a sentence together, much to the confusion of everyone I speak to.

So ... I buy old, pretty coat hangers.

And tea-towels.

And sweet old sheets, of which this one will become my next pair of flares if I remember to pick up my trusty Husqvarna tomorrow following its once-a-decade service.

I'll be using this pattern sent to me by dear Tamera.
I've already used it to make this pair of sheet flares, which fit perfectly.  (Well they did when I made them in February!)

Stay loose.
Baci,
Desiree x
