Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down

Respectable fashion journals have been drumming certain styling rules into me for years.
Like the importance of scarves in the wardrobes of women, especially of a certain age.
Yeah, ageing women like me.
I've struggled with those elusive slippery suckers for so long and just as I gave up, I found my fairy scarf godmother.
Now I can be chic and age-appropriate.
Haaaaa! Had you going there for a second didn't I?
Nay I say - still not going down that path - but I have been rocking this head-scarf technique since discovering it this weekend.
Check out this darling girl from Liberty of London.

  5. Head scarfs can be tricky to pull off--have sported a few in my day--much to the surprise of many! She has great hair to pair it with..

  6. Ha, I went and dug up a scarf to try it with. I think my scarf must be smaller than that pictured or my head is too big. :)

  9. Isn't she a cutie? I'm rubbish at tying scarves, I look more like a vintage char lady than a vintage vamp. Must try harder! xxx

  10. Oh, goodness, me too! I keep reading that scarves are a must, especially if one wishes to have an air of French chic, no matter one's age...but I rarely tie them right, and they even more rarely stay in place longer than five minutes or keep their ends out of my lunch.

What I'd like to do is go to Paris and see what French women of about my age are really doing with their supposedly ubiquitous scarves as they go about their daily tasks. I have a feeling they do more secure treatments, like tying them to handbags, rolling them up and knotting them as belts, or doing small coils snug around the neck, without trailing ends.
