Under A New Moon

My leftover piece of golden-rainbow fabric needs new moon magical properties before it is refashioned into something wonderful.
Hopefully.  No pressure.
A new headband and bright pink sucked-on cheeks feel just right for a lunar spell to work.
Let the twilight do its magic.

Ruby Tuesday

Well hello there autumn!
How lovely to see you and feel your refreshing kisses each morning.
Aren't seasonal changes so wonderful?

Not too long ago I used to tell people my favourite colour was red, until I realised with a surprise that I never wore red.
I loved green and still do.
It was the red lipstick that I couldn't live without, I just hadn't noticed.

Last week at Vinnies I pounced on a beautiful pair of red satin brocade Chinese pyjamas.
It's more of a ruby red and so are my VW Temptations - a pinky red.
This morning it was cool enough to cover up a bit, so on went the jarmie top.

 Bling-bling!

The earrings have Joan of Arc paintings on them.

Oh look, I only just noticed the plastic tag thingy on the collar!
I included this pic so you could get a sticky at the beautiful 1950s silk velvet cocktail hat gifted to me from the darling Sasha.

I'm sure many of you are mystified by my double-bagging malarky.
Why is this mad woman carrying two bags like she's collecting for the bottle bin?
It all started way back here when I told the story of Rough Vera.
It's occurred to me that you might like to take a peek inside.

Vintage handbags are very, very cute.
And totally impractical.
But I have a ton of them and realised that back in the day, a lady probably only carried her coin purse, house key, car key if she had a car, list, lippie and compact.
Mine fits wallet, lipstick case, phone and business card holder.
Nothing more.

So the second bag is for crud.
The overflow of modern life such as a massive bunch of keys plus here, diary, notebook and pen, hate mail (bills), camera, sunnies, paracetamol, measuring tape and paperback.
There's usually some gum, assorted red lipsticks, receipts, sunblock, swimming goggles, rings, spare sunnies and other general swill lurking at the bottom.

Red top (part of a set), green granny bag, bangles - thrifted
Glass bead bracelet - gifted by the beautiful, tripod-happy Curtise
Pink skull bracelet - handmade by my fave pink lady, Krista
1950s silk velvet hat - gifted by lovely Sasha
Leggings - Black Milk
Leopard bag - Dandelion Vintage
Red VW Melissa Temptations II - Amazon
Sunnies - Fitzroy, Melbourne
I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing the golden rainbow skirt refashion and don't worry I have certainly not thrown out the left over fabric.
I see a Helga and Sarah feck-off bow on the horizon:)).

Fabulous Forever After Party

Today I had to vote.
I had to because it's the law and if I don't, I have to pay a fine and that means less thrifting fun.
So I did what I had to do but I wasn't going to give any of the propaganda poopy fun police at the polling booth the satisfaction of knowing whose box I was going to tick.

I've decided that if I ever started a political movement, I will call it the Fabulous Forever After Party.

Don't you think this colourful metallic skirt I thrifted last week is just screaming "fabulous"?
It was too big for me so I played around with it, hacked a huge chunk out of it and viola, it's been out on the town nearly every day!

Mascot of the Fabulous Forever After Party quite simply must be Miss Camel Toe.
There's no one as fabulous as that brazen bint to represent my number one I-bear-no-shame-about-partying-in-my-brain policy.

Confetti nail polish means I am partying with my bucket of nail polishes nearly every day.
Don't buy new nail paint, just get some cheap confetti polish and you have an entirely new nail polish "wardrobe".
Party funnage!

Keeping opponents on their toes is guaranteed with a tacky pink headband covered in fabulous brooches.
The Frida badge is from Her Fabulousness Helga and gets lots of attention from an enamel parrot brooch I've had since I was 10 and a couple who clearly enjoy an after party as long as there's a red hat involved.
Have you SEEN what Her Fabulousness is wearing today?

OMG - honorary party membership or what?

Skirt, bag, headband, bangles, earrings, 1970s ring on middle finger, beads and a few brooches - thrifted
T-shirt - from Ms Minx's shop
VW Melissa Lady Dragon Ball shoes - thanks to the uncanny shopping skills of Suzanne.
Ooooooooooooooh and what have we here?

It's a parcel of freaking fabulous frilly frivolities from the gorgeous Curtise!
A 1960s lace and velvet hat, flippin' gorgeous red bloomers, bracelet and lovely coral dangly earrings!!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!
Oh and a reminder not to sweat the small stuff - yeah I'm not gonna clean my room either.
Unless I have to make room for After Party headquarters - oh yeah!
Vote 1 for the Fabulous Forever After Party!
Have a wonderful weekend lovelies.

Shut Up Baldrick, You'd Laugh at a Shakespeare Comedy.

The colour of these shorts reminds me of when Edmund Blackadder remarked to Percy, "so you think there's a big market for jewellery that looks like snot, then?"

I re-fashioned these from a rather hideous pair of snot-coloured 3/4 pants, into a not-quite so hideous, extremely comfortable pair of shorts.
They look like something my Dad would have worn with knee socks in 1978.

I love the intensely high-waisted look of them.
They look so out of place with all the other gear I'm wearing, yet it all feels so right to me.
They're a bit crumpled as I'd spent the whole day in them, out and about, but I'm happy with my super-pants.

Things that make you go boi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oing!
I'm in a crafty mood - think I'll make some more headbands this weekend.

My 1970s embroidered bag, Madeira, has forgiven me since being mended after I overloaded her with way too much of my baggage.
Poor delicate darling has moods too you know.

You're thinking "Oh god, can't she keep her pants on for just one day?  Just one!"
Well duh, course not!

I've discovered that swimsuits make the best hot summer day wear and you're ready to get wet should you happen by a sprinkler, town hall fountain, summer downpour, puddles or any body of water.
Plus you can change clothes in a jiffy if you stumble across an exciting op-shop find and absolutely must try it on right there and then.

I'm sure this fabulous shiny skirt was once part of a stage show.
My fave oppy, Aid for the Blind, seems to absorb these gems by the truckload.

It's rather on the large side, but I'm happy because it means I'll be sewing.
I'm really in the mood!

1970s refashioned shorts, embroidered bag, star earrings, bangles and coloured tribal necklace - thrifted
Black and silver necklace - gifted by the gorgeous Aminta

The gorgeous, sassy Bella over at The Citizen Rosebud put me under the spotlight this month - you can read her interview with me here, or you could just look at the pictures if you don't feel like moving your eyes too much:).
Thank you Bella, it was an honour to answer your wonderful questions - arse-squeeze coming your way love!!
