Peachy Keen

Wearing peach and black reminds me of Prince in the 80s.
Wasn't there a song on the Sign 'O the Times album that referred to it?
He wasn't exactly my inspiration today, but I still love him for all his weirdness, it was my random selection of necklaces that began this outfit.
It wasn't until I was hunting around for a bag that I remembered my 1960s vanity case and in a flash of inspiration, thanks to the saucy Helga von Trollop, I grabbed it.

The dress is a very late 1930s/early 1940s number when this shade of peach crepe was all the rage.
Hemlines were start to get higher after the Great Depression's longer lengths.
I'm guessing it was made before the WWII clothing restrictions were implemented in 1942 in the U.S., as the intricate, draped bodice details would never have passed the War Production Board's strict guidelines.
The dress is from California.

Piling on the junk just seems so right.

I'm wearing glass beads from the 1930s, 1950s pearl strands and diamantes, a 1970s mirror pendant on a black satin ribbon and some gold junk thing.
Also wearing my fave "new" lucite bangles from Antique4Unique's Etsy shop.
Kitsch comic-print wedges and black eyeshadow compulsory;).

  16. I hadn't realized that wartime clothing design was so limited in its details. I guess every extra pleat meant more fabric consumed.

That shade of peach crepe should still be all the rage -- it's lovely!

And I like your array of necklaces, a treasure pile of color, twinkle, and texture.
