I've never been a bridesmaid so I don't know what it's like to have a closet full of unwanted, rumpled, depressed, frou-frou.
My frou-frou sees quite enough use thanks very much:).
But I do love discovering these usually hideous, but sometimes gorgeously hopeful, spinster-frocks.
I like to imagine this 1960s, green, shimmery, silk gown is one of those wee dears that tip-toed blushing down the isle, only later to be grabbed, tugged, wet-down with toxic fruit punch and lastly fumbled with in a sweaty knee-trembler outside the local church hall.
Hehehe!
No such action for this frock last night at my daughter's end-of-year Celebration of Learning.
But no matter how much I style this frock, it always grabs centre-stage.
Maybe it's the frill, maybe it's the colour, or maybe its just saturated in good times.
I love the beaded straps.
The first, fragrant frangipanis of summer.
What have you done with your bridesmaid dresses?
I've never been a bridesmaid so have been spared such a collection of dresses. I love the colour of the dress and the straps are so pretty - I love all those rings and beads you've got on too!
ReplyDeleteYour daughter must have been very proud of you at her celebration.
I've never been a bridesmaid (or a bride, either). I think I'd have been tempted to accept if I could have worn a fab frock like that one. I thought you said that you didn't suit maxi dresses, well you do and you ROCK them. I adore the whole outfit and the jewellery is awesome as always! xxx
ReplyDeleteI've never been a bridesmaid, though I've always wanted to. Luckily, my best friend (who will be getting engaged any day now) has fantastic taste. Hopefully that will translate to the bridesmaids dresses!
ReplyDeleteP.S. - I finally posted about the award you gave me. Thanks again!
your jewellery makes me feel envious!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite outfit you've ever posted. I love it. I used to wear prom dresses as everyday outfits just because I felt like it was stupid to have pretty things that you couldn't wear all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit too--the green is particularly becoming on you~
ReplyDeleteI've been a bridesmaid a million times and they tell you if you do this or that, you can wear the dress again. HA! Not true--I don't know what it is, but they forever reek of synthetic taffeta! cept yours course!
I think I've been a bridesmaid twice...and I cannot remember what happened to the dresses I wore. Is this one of those fabrics that looks green one way and blue from a different angle?
ReplyDeletehahaha, sweaty knee trembler!!! Sounds like the voice of experience! Eeeep! I have,in fact, been a bridesmaid once.luckily,it was a sort of mediaeval theme,so it wasn't toooo bad! But I have since got rid of the damn thing!Ugh!I have been to some frigging ugly weddings, though, and seen some wretchedly hideous brides & bridesmaids. How freakin' miserable. Why on earth would you want to look like an alien?@!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow,I'm a bit pissed,and I digress.
You look divoooon in that frock, great colour and fabulously accessorised as usual!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx yeah,it took me a while to write this and keep fixing my drunken spelling.......rah rah
That dress has a strong and wonderful colour but the model is sort of romantic, a very interesting combination. I love how you styled it.
ReplyDeleteI have never been a bridesmaid and I got married in a black suit. I have worn that suit a lot since then, sometimes with shirt and tie.
I was a flower girl once.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the dress would still fit ;)
too cool and your baubles are always so unique and interesting :)
Thanks for all the wonderful comments.

I think you have done a really good job by wearing it with a denim jacket.
ReplyDeleteYou are fantastic.
I am so glad that your blog is back to work, and I can tell you so.
Un abrazo fuerte my friend.

I would love to read that article that you read on Mad Men in Vogue!! Dang, was it a long time ago?? So I just finished Season 3 and you were so right about the characters developing! WOW, I cannot believe it, but I have to say I think the show has definitely gotten even better over time!
ReplyDeleteAs for this dress, HOORAY! First I just love the dress esp bc of the color. I also LOVE putting jean jackets over formal dresses, it just takes it all down a notch but in a chic way of course!
Does the dress have muted stripes too? Its lovely!

I never been a bridesmaid but I did come out in My sister's and cousins Quinceañera (15th birthday) party. sorta like a sweet 16 party.
ReplyDeleteMy Mama kept them stored somewhere in the garage and they were exaggerating. I must now look for them to show you how over top we dress for our Mexi-parties.
Your looking so youthful and glowing these days. What a great way to wear a bridesmaids frock.
You inspirational gem.
