Girls Gone Wild

Look who I got to rub bosoms with on Sunday.
Why, the most gorgeous woman at the Gold Coast Antique Fair of course, the utterly spectacular Kitty!
Who absolutely NAILED her vintage silk frock and looked fabulous while running a busy stall for three-plus days.
I got to stroke her frock.
And the freaking gorgeous 1960s leopard handbag in the background, which incidentally caused a furore among fur-haters on Facebook.
Really?????
Well I fucking hate men who look at my 10 y.o. lassie the wrong way.
Jeez!!!

I also endorse this insanely fabulous 1940s bakelite telly at Kitty's stall.

Huge hugs and many, many shocking arse-squeezes ensued.
I can only hope it got that hot woman a few more sales.

A few more precious treasures on her stall - I could do with the green paisley bag as an overnight bag, the pink one as a laptop case, do a bit of double-bagging with the pink vinyl number and the giant Life Saver tin could carry my flask of tea.

"Hello?  Can you send Gregory Peck over for my foot-rub pronto?  Thanks."

It was just The Stylist and I who went off for an overnight trip, where we ate the most expensive sushi ever - ten bucks!
I decided to make it worth my while and chuck down some mega-wattage wasabi - ya' know, to give me something to remember.

At the end of the fair, I was looking rather creased in my 1960s cotton frock, with cape awesomeness and free chola bra strappage.

Then we checked into a cheap motel across the road from North Burleigh Beach and immediately hit the waves.
That was when I realised I left our toiletries bag at home (read: eye make up remover and contact lens case).

I'm sure there are people who wear thick black liquid liner to the beach on a sweltering day.
Sure of it.

In the water, I even asked The Stylist how the liner was holding up.
"Oh fine ... you just look like you've got a bit of smokey eyeshadow on."

This is what I looked like for the couple of hours post beach-swim, walk and pool-swim.
Joke's on me, you can't always trust a stylist with a wicked sense of humour.

The next day, early morning swimming then a drive to Rainbow Bay for breakfast.

Point Danger Lookout, where we had breakfast (coffee for me, ice cream for her).

Then a couple of hours spent beach-combing, exploring, collecting shells and driftwood.

Oh me?  I sat under my parasol and let the heat and ocean air clear my mind.

The Stylist trusted me to take her to a glorious beach at Fingal Heads, NSW.
And it WAS glorious.

Me: "Look, we just crossed into New South Wales!"
Her: "Oh wow, are we in Sydney?"
(Dear of her, Sydney was 800+km away).

She made a new friend who gave her a wee sting on her knee that luckily didn't hurt much or flare up!

I do hope you're all having some wonderful adventurous moments this week my lovelies.
Baci,
Desiree xoxo

It is bloody freezing here so enjoyed the sight of the sun in your pix. So glad you had a good break and hope you feel totally invigorated after all the bum squeezing.

I have a fabric print twin of your gorg cotton dress - only mine is cold rayon and made up (by hand) into a dressing gown. It makes me want to be a redhead all over again.

Thank you for the lovely post xxxx

  16. Looks like you and the Stylist had a fabulous time together. The forest walk and the beach - a great combination, and of course the ice cream and the sushi and the antique fair. You and Kitty look absolutely fabulous in your dresses. Did you know that your outfit - dress and beautiful floral headband - match the sushi!

  17. Thank you thank you thank you for taking us along on this fabulous girl get away! I can't believe you managed to do two of my most favorite things in the world, shop and hit the beach! You look so happy on that beach and the Stylist is just as pretty as her Mom you two look like you had the best time. This is what life is all about! I think when I went to California last year and took my nephews to the beach for the first time it was pure bliss for me to be splashing around with those kids, these memories get me through the cold winter days.
Thanks again for sharing with us!
    LOVEYOU!!!!!!!

I love how close you are to the stylist, I'm so close to my Mum, and when I was a wee lass like the stylist I was close to her then, I think you will always have a wonderful relationship. You look so glamorous and carefree there at the beach, and I can't lie, I am envious of the sun, sea and sand. xx

  26. That Lifesavers tin is epic! My mother collects vintage tins, and I can see her swooning over this baby!

Good on you for rescuing that jellyfish. I have a horrible fear of them because I got very badly stung once. Yuck. That little guy was lucky that you were there.

  31. Oh my you & Kitty look smashing! I LOVE both of your frocks.....the fabrics & styles are DIVINE!!! Sorry I missed the fair, but I'm a bit reluctant to hit the GC at this hectic time of year. I'm glad you & the Stylist had a girls weekend away. Nothing more therapeutic then a swim in the ocean. You even look fabularse all wet, which is a hard look to pull off! Xx

  34. Desiree, my fave pics are of you on the beach with your hair blowing in the breeze. You look so peaceful and beautiful.

I'ma confess to being a stoopid American. I was all, "Why are men eyeing her collie funny?" when I realized lassie also means wee girl.

You are Super Woman. The back of that dress proves it. I knew it!

  35. I LOOOVE the beach pics so much! So glad you and The Stylist had a gorgeous adventure together - this brings a little tear to my sentimental eye.
